Community visioning

This section sets out how you could develop a new shared vision for your community i.e. what sort of community you'd like to build in the future.

It is important that everyone has a chance to have their say and put their ideas forward including both the men and the women groups. Remember everyone's knowledge and views count.

These ideas and what's agreed can be drawn up as a picture and put up to act as a guide for what the whole community wants to create together. You will need a facilitator to organise these discussions and someone to record the ideas. There are examples of how you could record the key points in a conversation map at the end of this section. Conversation maps are good ways to draw a picture of your place and community and how it works and can be re-shaped to make a better future.

Conversational maps can be also used as a tool to develop an integrated and shared community vision for the future. It can help us identify the leverage actions, initiatives and priorities that derive from a collaborativelly deveveloped vision.
